A review of multiple randomized control trials demonstrated a “[lack of] strong evidence for the efficacy of diets”. Of the few studies that claimed a “success”, the average weight loss was 1.1kg, hardly clinically significant. Across studies, one to two thirds of dieters regained additional weight long-term.
